Calls for proposals open under the Fundamental Elements initiative

Two calls for proposals are currently open under the Fundamental Elements initiative, the EU R&D funding mechanism supporting the development of EGNSS-enabled chipsets, receivers and antennas.

The first call for proposals, “Galileo HAS enabled Maritime receiver”, aims at designing, developing, testing and demonstrating a GNSS positioning/navigation close-to-market (i.e. minimum TRL 76) solution, integrating Galileo HAS receiver, suitable to be embedded within the vessel navigation equipment.

The call is open until the 27th of September 2024, and it will fund up to two projects with a budget up to 2.500.000 € .

More information is available here.

The objective of the second call for proposals currently open is to develop “Galileo Timing receivers implementing CEN/CENELEC standards”.

This call aims at designing, developing, testing and demonstrating a Galileo dual frequency Timing receiver, fulfilling the requirements defined in the CEN/CENELEC Standard (CEN/CENELEC reference is prEN 16605).

The grant has an estimated total value of 3.000.000,00€ and the call will close on the 28th October 2024.

The Fundamental Elements projects are part of the overall European GNSS strategy for market uptake, led by EUSPA.

These projects aim at:

  • Facilitating the adoption of the European GNSS Systems, building on their innovative services and differentiators;
  • Improving the competitiveness of the EU industry;
  • Addressing user needs in priority market segments;
  • Maximising benefits for European citizens.
