As of January 2026, the Regional Development Agency of Stalowa Wola (StARR) formally joins Space Y, becoming its first member representing a regional development agency.
StARR’s main objective is to support the long-term economic growth of Stalowa Wola, a region including a population of 100 446 on an area of 832.92 km2 in south-eastern Poland. The Agency focuses on supporting innovation, attracting investments, and creating an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and international cooperation in the region.
StARR is strongly engaged in building favourable conditions for the dynamic development of the space and defence industry in the region, supporting existing companies and closely cooperating with technical universities on R&D projects.
Currently, StARR is running SPACE 4 TALENTS, a project co-financed by the European Urban Initiative – Innovative Actions, with the objective of developing a model for attracting and retaining talent in cities losing socio-economic functions through the development of the space industry.
StARR’s mission is based on a modern approach to supporting entrepreneurship, developing endogenous potential, effectively acquiring external funds, fostering innovation, and attracting investors.
By including StARR in its network, Space Y strengthens the link between European downstream space companies and local and regional ecosystems. Regional development agencies bring critical insight into territorial needs, skills, infrastructure, and access to public support, helping translate downstream space activities into sustainable economic growth.
This local anchoring and expertise become even more vital in a context of heightened geopolitical uncertainty, supporting the creation of a resilient and autonomous European space value chain.
